Joy Kane holds a Ph. B. from the University of Chicago, a B.M. from Roosevelt University, a License from the N.Y. Dalcroze School of Music and the Diplôme Honoris Causa from the Dalcroze Institute of Geneva.

Founder and director of the Department of Modern Dance of the Cleveland Music School Settlement, Ms. Kane was also a leading Dance Accompanist, playing for Anna Sokolow at Lincoln Center, Donny McKayle and many others.

Ms. Kane leads workshops and classes in vocal and keyboard Jazz, as well as performing in clubs in the U.S. and Europe.

She was selected by the French Ministry of Culture to train teachers of music and dance in the Dalcroze Method, and established a highly successful Dalcroze Teacher Training program at the Centre Polyphonique of Paris, France.

She was a founding faculty member of the "Studio des Variétés", the French Ministry of Culture’s answer to our La Guardia High School.

In addition to teaching throughout Europe she has taught at the Manhattan School of Music, Hartford Conservatory, Lowell University, Cleveland Institute of Music, Diller-Quaile School of Music, The 92nd Street Y and the Connecticut College Summer Festival of Dance.
